Filler (Volume Lift)
Volume is the key to a more youthful appearance
Before and After Gallery
WHAT IS THE VOLUME-LIFT?
The volume-lift is a specific filler technique which allows for the enhancement of the cheek, jowls, chin and temple areas of the face. The procedure uses either autologous fat or a specific filler, Radiesse™, which has been shown to have very beneficial effects. Radiesse™ is derived from calcium hydroxyapetite spherules. Both of these fillers are wonderful to use in the face because they are very easy to mold and contour. They also have a very natural look and feel.
HOW OFTEN ARE TREATMENTS PERFORMED?
The volume-lift is repeated when the cosmetic effects of the procedure have worn off or are less noticeable. On average, treatments are repeated at 12 month intervals. After three to five treatment sessions, results on average are thought to last for at least two years or more. This is very satisfying for our valued Jacksonville, Fleming Island and Ponte Vedra Beach patients, who want to get the most out of their investment.
HOW IS THE TREATMENT PERFORMED?
Our providers ask that you discontinue blood thinners such as Vitamin E, St Johns Wort, and Aspirin 2 weeks before your volume-lift treatment. If you are prone to cold sores, let us know so that we can prescribe you a medication called Valtrex™. Prior to the procedure, we will apply topical anesthetic cream. This is left in place for 30 to 45 minutes. When using Radiesse™, the product is mixed with a 2 percent numbing solution and subsequently administered intraorally, like a dental block. What is amazing is that this is a very painless procedure. The filler agent is slowly and artistically placed into a predetermined area of your face. Ice packs and pressure will be used to minimize bruising as the treatment is being carried out. (You can also start on Arnica> before your filler treatment to minimize bruising). The overall treatment time takes between 15 and 45 minutes.
WHAT ABOUT THE AFTERCARE?
Volume-lift treatments may induce some degree of swelling or bruising. Ice packs and/or pressure can minimize this unwanted complication. After your procedure, it is important that you massage the treatment areas using the "3-3-5" rule, e.g., massage the treatment area 3 times a day for 3 minutes for 5 days. In some instances, a medication called prednisone may be prescribed for you to decrease the duration and intensity of swelling. Discomfort after treatment is minimal and can be controlled with Tylenol™. You may also use makeup to camouflage bruising, e.g. Jane Iredale™, immediately after filler treatments. Bruising, when it occurs, resolves within a few days to a week.

ARE THERE OTHER TREATMENTS WHICH COULD BE USED IN COMBINATION WITH FILLER TREATMENTS TO IMPROVE MY OVERALL APPEARANCE?
At ADAS, Associates in Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery, we will sometimes combine the volume-lift with Juvederm™ or Restylane™ for lip augmentation, forehead line reduction, and eyebrow "lifting. Botox Cosmetic™ can also be used to optimize your cosmetic result. Fraxel (restore) ™ or Fractional "DOT" CO2 laser™ can further improve the overall health and texture of your facial skin and musculature. Combination treatments can enhance your cosmetic benefit and help it to last longer.
