WHAT IS EVOLENCE™?

Evolence™ is a wonderful new porcine derived filler which has been modified to last longer than similar collagen or hyaluronic acid products available. We are the first practice in the Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach and Fleming Island area that has been trained and certified to use this novel material. Evolence™ is primarily indicated for the correction of moderate to deep facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds. Unlike hyaluronic acid products , GLYMATRX™ processed collagen naturally integrates into the host tissue. As a result, the injected collagen is allowed to naturally age within the surrounding host tissue with few if any side effects.

HOW OFTEN ARE TREATMENTS PERFORMED?

Evolence™ filler treatments are repeated when the cosmetic effects of the procedure have worn off or are less noticeable. On average, treatments can last up to 15 to 24 months in the nasolabial folds. This is very unique for the type of filler and rewarding for our Jacksonville, Fleming Island, and Ponte Vedra Beach patients, who want to get the most out of their investment.

HOW IS THE TREATMENT PERFORMED?

Our providers ask that you discontinue blood thinners such as Vitamin E, St Johns Wort, and Aspirin 2 weeks before your Evolence™ treatment. If you are prone to cold sores, let us know so that we can prescribe you a medication called Valtrex™. Prior to the procedure, we will perform a painless dental block. Evolence™ is then specifically placed into a predetermined area of your face. Ice packs and pressure will be used to minimize bruising as the treatment is being carried out. You can also start on Arnica before your filler treatment to minimize bruising. The actual treatment takes between 15 and 45 minutes.

WHAT ABOUT THE AFTERCARE?

Evolence™ treatments may induce some degree of swelling or bruising but much less than other fillers because of specific Glymatrix™ processing. Ice packs and/or pressure can be used to minimize this unwanted complication. After your procedure, it is important that you massage the treatment areas using the "3-3-5" rule, e.g., massage the treatment area 3 times a day for 3 minutes for 5 days. In some instances, a medication called prednisone may be prescribed for you to decrease the duration and intensity of swelling. Discomfort after treatment is minimal and can be controlled with Tylenol™. You may also use makeup to camouflage bruising, e.g. Jane Iredale™, immediately after Evolence™ treatments. Bruising, when it occurs, resolves within a few days to a week.

ARE THERE OTHER TREATMENTS WHICH COULD BE USED IN COMBINATION WITH EVOLENCE™ TREATMENTS TO IMPROVE MY OVERALL APPEARANCE?

At ADAS, Associates in Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery, we will sometimes combine Evolence™ with Botox Cosmetic™ to further enhance your appearance. After a few weeks Fraxel (restore)™ or Fractional "DOT" CO2 laser™ can be used to further your results.
